One of the wonderful things about teaching in an innovative school like UTES is that collaboration among teachers can lead to super amazing projects for the students. One example of this occurred recently with 2nd graders. In their Language Arts class, they were learning about advertising. They created their own brand of cereal. To extend this lesson, in STEM they actually build their box of cereal and then recorded a commercial for it. Some students worked in teams and some chose to work independently. They all teamed up for recording their commercials. Many students brought props from home and others made their own props out of our recyclable materials. Their enthusiasm and creativity for their final project was unparalleled!
